INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH TRAINING GROUP

ARITHMETIC AND GEOMETRY

The German Research Foundation (DFG) promotes the International Research Training

Group at the Institute of Mathematics of the Humboldt University Berlin together with the

Mathematical Institutes of the ETH Zurich and the University of Zurich. The Research

Training Group has the following vacancies:

up to 3 fellowships for doctoral students

(for 2 years, possible prolongation for one year, EUR 1.000,- per month plus EUR 103,- EUR

for equipment, and family/child care surcharge if applicable) for a start on January 15, 2007

and

1 postdoctoral fellowship

(for 1 year, possible prolongation for one year, from EUR 1.340,- per month up (depending

on age) plus 103,- EUR for equipment, and family/child care surcharge if applicable) for a

start on January 15, 2007.

The International Research Training Group is organized by university lecturers cooperating

in common research projects with colleagues from the ETH Zurich and the University of

Zurich, respectively.

The International Research Training Group offers a programme for further qualification in

the fields of Arithmetic and Geometry. In addition to systematic work on the doctoral thesis

the fellowship holders should take an active part in the work of the group. Ability and

willingness to discuss about and collaborate on the research problems are required. In case

the doctoral fellowship lasts 2 or 3 years, the graduate programme will include a 6-month

stay in Zurich.

Interested persons with above-average degree or doctorate should send their applications

containing a curriculum vitae, copies of certificates, a copy of the final paper (diploma or

Master thesis and PhD thesis, respectively), an evaluation of a university lecturer and a

working programme (postgraduates) to the speaker of the Research Training Group,

indicating their field of interest. Applications should be sent until

January 6, 2007
